Funding Opportunity: Healing Training Grant
The Center for Comprehensive Healing (CCH) is pleased to announce the Healing Training Grant Program, a funding opportunity for Mass General Brigham (MGB) providers and staff. This grant is intended to support the costs of professional training in healing practices for the purposes of personal and professional development.
Applicants may request funding (ranging from $500-$20,000) to either participate in training themselves or to offer training to others within the MGB system.
The goal of this initiative is to expand the capacity of MGB providers, practitioners, and healthcare leaders to deliver whole-person, healing-centered care. By supporting evidence-informed training opportunities, the program encourages the integration of holistic approaches into both clinical and community-based settings.
Eligible healing practices include, but are not limited to: Acupuncture/Acupressure, Yoga, Meditation, Breathwork, Tai Chi, Qigong, Reiki, Healing Touch/Therapeutic Touch, Energy Healing, Nutrition, Prepare for Surgery Heal Faster, Sound Healing, Music/Art Therapy, Biofeedback & Neurofeedback.

Proposal Requirements
Applications should include the following:
Project Summary: Provide a brief overview of the proposed training and how it will be applied to advance healing-centered care at MGB. Include a rationale explaining the modality’s relevance, feasibility, and anticipated impact
Training Description: Include the program name, content, training provider, certifications (if applicable), and associated costs.
Implementation plan: Outline vision for how the training will be integrated into care delivery, education, personal development, or community health initiatives. How would you define success for this project? What outcomes do you hope it will support or improve?
Budget: Provide a clear, detailed budget outlining anticipated expenses.
Team: Include brief bio (single paragraph) or NIH biosketch, if applicable, for each team member
Eligible Trainings:
To be considered, training must be offered by a reputable organization, teacher, or practitioner recognized within the modality or cultural tradition.
Sample Proposals
The following examples demonstrate the types of training opportunities that may be supported through this grant. These are provided for inspiration, we welcome your ideas, innovations, and proposals that reflect your unique role and goals within the MGB system.
A primary care physician at MGH Chelsea Health Center attending a Breathwork and Meditation Teacher Training with David Magone at PranaVayu School of Yoga, to bring culturally responsive, trauma-sensitive breathwork practices into group medical visits serving Latinx and immigrant communities.
A team of oncology nurses from Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital completing Level I and II Reiki Training at SOMA Integrated Health in Newton, to offer energy healing techniques as supportive care for patients undergoing chemotherapy.
ICU Nurses at MGH receiving funding to complete Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster training with author and instructor Peggy Huddleston, with the goal of integrating guided imagery and relaxation techniques into perioperative care for surgical patients.
A neurologist at MGH completing Medical Qi Gong Practitioner Training at the Lotus Institute, to integrate gentle movement, breathwork, and mindfulness into care for patients with post-stroke fatigue and neurodegenerative conditions.
A certified yoga therapist and educator at Newton-Wellesley Hospital designing and delivering an 8-week Mindful Movement and Breathwork Training Series for interdisciplinary staff across MGB, focused on burnout prevention, nervous system regulation, and integrative care delivery.
A rheumatologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital completing Medical Qi Gong Practitioner Training at the Lotus Institute, to incorporate gentle movement, breathwork, and mindfulness into pain management for patients with autoimmune and inflammatory disorders.
A patient services coordinator at MGH Cancer Center earning a Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate through the T. Colin Campbell Center, to develop culturally tailored nutrition resources and cooking demos for oncology patients
